Offline-Ready Investor Relations App for a Global Pharma Company
When investors asked a question at a conference, the CEO had to find the right page in a 350-slide deck, and any edit left that deck outdated. Today the content sits in a Power Apps app that runs offline across five platforms. The teams who own each piece keep it up to date.

- ~350
- slides turned into structured data
- Roughly 350 linked slides, pulled out by a Node.js engine. Build scope, no saving measured.

- Windows, macOS, iOS, Android and the web. Build scope.
- Day 1
- full content, taken from the old deck
- In use from the CEO downwards. No time or usage data was recorded.

The challenge
The client ranks among the largest biopharmaceutical companies anywhere. Each quarter, investor relations teams across several countries team up with the research centres to refresh what leadership shows investors: company performance, R&D, where every medicine in the pipeline stands, which ones are close to launch and which are being dropped.
All of this ended up in one PowerPoint of roughly 350 slides that was used like an application. Presenters clicked hyperlinks to move between therapy areas, medicines and stages of the pipeline.
Where the deck fell short
- Many editors, one file. People in several countries worked on the same deck. The content had no structure underneath, and nothing showed who had changed what.
- Never quite current. The pipeline shifts every quarter, yet it lived inside a file that needed rebuilding and resending each time.
- Answers were hard to reach. Clicking through 350 slides of hyperlinks while an investor waits, or on a conference stage.
- Offline was not assured. Leaders on the conference circuit needed the material on whatever device they had, connected or not.
- Nowhere to give feedback. Those preparing the content could not comment on it, review it or sign it off within the tool.

What we did
We delivered a Power Apps canvas app that converts the investor deck into structured content you can search. Its owners maintain it, and leadership can open it offline on any device they use.
Inside the app
- Data instead of slides. Therapy areas, medicines and pipeline status are stored as structured records in categories, not as slides joined by links.
- Find it fast. Navigation by category follows the way leadership describes the business. Full search and retrieval work across the structured information.
- Role-based comments and feedback. The staff who prepare and gather information for the investor relations directors leave comments and feedback in the app, in line with their role.
- Any device, connected or not. It runs on Windows, macOS, iOS, Android and the web, and keeps working offline while people travel or attend conferences.
- Designed for senior leadership. It is used by the CEO and investor relations, as well as by other directors and departments, to prepare for and guide conversations with investors and other external parties.
Full on the first day
We wrote a Node.js engine that read the current PowerPoint. It pulled out the semi-structured content, meaning tables that repeat in one format from slide to slide, turned it into a structured dataset and loaded that as the app's starting data. On launch day the app already held everything. It did not open blank.

The outcome
Leaders now open an app, not a deck. Whatever device they have, online or offline, the answer is one search or two taps away.
| Deck | App | |
|---|---|---|
| Investor material | A single PowerPoint of 350 slides | Records that are structured and categorised |
| Getting to an answer | Clicking links from slide to slide | Search plus navigation by category |
| No connection | Not assured | Runs offline |
| Staying up to date | Deck rebuilt and sent out again | Each owner updates their own part |
| Feedback | Happened outside the tool | Role-based comments in the app |
| Starting content | Not applicable | Moved over automatically from the deck |
- A navigational PowerPoint of 350 slides has been replaced by a structured app on each platform leadership relies on: Windows, macOS, iOS, Android and the web.
- Investor material works offline in meetings and at conferences.
- Owners keep their own content current, and comments and feedback sit in one place.
- The existing content was moved over automatically, with no retyping.
- Used by the CEO, by investor relations and by other directors and departments.
- Nobody recorded time or usage figures, so we quote none.
What teams usually overlook
Promising to turn a deck into an app is simple. Delivering it is not. An app that opens empty on day one gets ignored, and an app that needs a connection breaks down in the conference hall. Adoption hinges on starting content and offline behaviour. We converted the existing deck into structured data before go-live and built the app offline-first, syncing once a connection is back. That is why leadership reached for the app and not the PowerPoint.
